β€œThe question that each athlete faces in the crucial moments of a race – β€œHow Bad Do You Want It?” – is fundamentally a question of motivation.” -Matt Fitzgerald

β€œWhy run is the question often asked. Why go out there every afternoon and beat out your brains? What is the logic of punishing yourself each day, of striving to become better, more efficient, tougher? The value in it is what you learn about yourself. In this sort of situation all kinds of qualities come out – things that you may not have seen in yourself before.”

-Steve Prefontaine, from β€œHow Bad Do You Want It?” By Matt Fitzgerald

I’ve exercised to alleviate anxiety and redirect my focus by exhausting myself physically.

I’ve moved to prove a sense of self-worth to myself.

I’ve sought to make myself physically strong so that I could feel brave in my life.

It has provided me with invaluable lessons about tolerance, discipline, attitude and perseverance.

My fitness endeavors continually transform throughout each stage of my life.

Why do I do this? What is the meaning behind my dedication to discomfort?

Because I’m hungry to know more of myself. I have an insatiable curiosity to understand my experience.

I want to dig in, push the limits, strengthen my commitment, feel everything – the fear, the pain, the reward. #growth #grit #gratitude #idowhatilove
